Poem for my Mom

Poem for my Mom

I lost my Mom on April 17th, 2024, after a fight with cancer. I wrote this poem based on the eulogy I gave at her funeral and I wanted to share it with everyone so they knew such a wonderful woman lived. She was a fantastic mother and I will miss her forever.

In gardens of joy where laughter would bloom,

You stood, dear mother, the heart of each room.

With hands that would gather us in close embrace,

And eyes that shone brighter when they saw our face.

At barbecues, dinners, stories were told,

Your warmth wrapped around us, a shield from the cold.

You played the great hostess, with love so profound,

Yet never sought limelight, just joy all around.

Through trials and laughter, through each skinned knee,

You were the safe harbor on life’s stormy sea.

A mother, a pillar, with strength so immense,

Your presence was comfort, your love our defense.

And even when weakened, you showed us your might,

Holding me tightly through that darkest night.

Whispering courage when my tears would start,

With the last of your strength, you comforted my heart.

So thank you, dear Mom, for the love you have shown,

For the strength you instilled, and the kindness you’ve sown.

In memory’s garden, your spirit will stay,

Guiding and loving us, every single day.

Thanks for reading and helping me keep her memory alive even in this small way.
